Old Paradians lending a hand to the Juniors

OP’s Working For The Future

Anyone who has been involved in a football club understands how difficult it is to obtain coaches, committee members and any other volunteers required to make things tick.

Fortunately for the OP’s we are blessed with several committed volunteers that we are all lucky to have. In that spirit three current Old Paradian players, Chris Shepherd, Michael Boundy and Josh Munro have put their hands up to coach the Under 15 boys team at Parade St Damians for 2017. This marks the second year that all three have been involved in the club despite only Josh paying his junior football there.

With an astounding 4 best clubman awards between the 3 players all of them understand just how vital the link between the junior and senior clubs are for the future of the OP’s, with several senior players and many more under 19’s players coming from this strong junior club. Given that there are many other football clubs in the local area it is essential that these ties are maintained and we commend the boys for their efforts.

Unfortunately at this stage this story does not have a happy ending. Following several meetings and with only 18 players currently listed the team is forging ahead for the season.

Throughout the players leaving and struggles to get a team together Chris, Michael and Josh have provided a united front and have worked tirelessly to ensure that these Under 15’s get rewarded for commitment with the season they deserve. We are all behind them in their endeavours and hope that everything works out.

**Note: The Under 15’s play their first game this Sunday at Binnak Park at 1pm. Anyone who can make it please get along, the support will be appreciated. Also, if anyone reading this has or knows an Under 15 boy who is wanting to play footy please call Chris Shepherd on 0402736104.
