Yesterday, six major metropolitan leagues met to discuss the future of the 2020 season, amid the rising concern of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.  As a result of that meeting, the decision has been made to suspend the season until at least the 31st of May.

The suspension includes all training sessions, practice matches, and regular season matches of VAFA clubs effective immediately.  A meeting will be held on the 14th of April with the same six leagues to discuss the situation again pending further developments.

We know how much work the players and coaches have put in over the pre-season period, and how much they have been looking forward to the season kicking off.  We also know how excited the members, supporters, sponsors and the wider Old Paradians Football Club community has been looking forward to the new season, but the health, safety and well-being of everyone involved at the club is paramount, so we have agreed to these measures without hesitation or argument.

The Yarra Junior Football League were not part of the meeting, and as a result, a decision has yet to be made as to when the season will commence.  A board meeting was held on the evening of the 17th of March, and meeting will be held with all Club Presidents on the 18th of March to make that decision. At this stage the Parade St Damians JFC committee and coaches have decided to also suspended all official club activities (including training sessions) until after Easter, when they will meet again and discuss the direction for the rest of the season.
